During the second intermission, a member of the audience was seen distributing a white powder in the orchestra pit. As the substance was unidentified at the time and could have been a dangerous compound used in terrorist attacks, the remainder of the performance was cancelled along with the evening performance of L'Italiana in Algeri as a precautionary measure while the New York Police Department completed their investigation.
