A presentation was made onstage to Paul Plishka by Peter Gelb after the end of Act I. The ceremony, in front of the company and the audience, celebrated Mr. Plishka's retirement from the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Plishka returned for post-retirement performances in the roles of Benoit and Alcindoro during the 2015-2016 run of Puccini's La Bohème.
