Miss Easton Is Brilliant Carmen at the Metropolitan
A special matinee yesterday afternoon at the Metropolitan Opera House was devoted to the ever-popular "Carmen" with Miss Florence Easton again in the title role as the brilliant and seductive dancer. Miss Queena Mario, with her pretty voice, was well received and made a graceful and appealing Micaela. The part of Don José was portrayed by Orville Harrold, who sang well and gave a very creditable, although at times a somewhat overdrawn, performance of the role. José Mardones as Escamillo was entirely convincing as the triumphant toreador and others in the cast included Miss Grace Anthony as Frasquita, Louis D'Angelo as Zuniga and George Meader as Remondado. Miss Galli and Mr. Bonfiglio danced, and the performance was in all respects a good one, much of the credit of which was due to the judicious and well balanced conducting of Louis Hasselmans.
