Rigoletto
Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York, Brooklyn, Mon, November 23, 1908
Debut : Alessandro Tretti, Emma Borniggia
Rigoletto (57)
Giuseppe Verdi | Francesco Maria Piave
Rigoletto received five performances this season.
All company records indicate that Spetrino conducted this performance, but an article in The New York Times reports that Toscanini took over for his colleague, who had suffered an injury. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle wrote that "Mr. Spetrino conducted with fire, discretion and great skill," words of praise that may in fact have been earned by Toscanini.
