CARUSO AT POPULAR PRICES

Great Tenor Packs the Metropolitan for the Performance

For the last evening of his last season at the Metropolitan Opera House Mr. Conried presented to the Saturday evening audience Mr. Caruso at popular prices. It was the first time that this tenor had appeared on Saturday evening since early in his first year here. As a result the Opera House was sold out some days ago, and last night there was, a struggle to get standing room. After the first act had begun it was almost impossible for any one who had a seat to get to it, so dense was the crowd standing at the back.

Mr. Caruso was in good voice. After the "Di Quella Pira" air the tenor was presented with a wreath of mammoth proportions, large enough for him to walk through. The wreath was on view a large part of the evening in a corner of the corridor, and was inspected by many curious persons.

The cast last night included Miss Fornia, who is a good Leonora; Mrs. Homer, and Mr. Stracciari. Mr. Ferrari, as, conductor, made probably his last appearance at the Metropolitan.
