METROPOLITAN OPERA HOUSE.
The final performance of the second round of Nibelung operas was given at the Metropolitan Opera House, when "Die Götterdämmerung" was given before the largest audience of the season. The performance moved with great spirit and earnestness. As a matter of record it may be noted that the cast last night was as follows: Brünnhilde, Frau Lehmann; Gutrune, Fräulein Meisslinger; the Rhine maidens, Traubmann, Koschoska and Reil; Siegfried, Herr Alvary; Hagen, Herr Fischer, and Gunther, Herr Robinson.
There were many demonstrations of delight on the part of the audience, and Herr Alvary was again made the subject of special applause and calls. The "star" system was discouraged by the appearance of all the artists in response to the recalls. Herr Alvary is not engaged for next season. At this afternoon's matinée "Das Rheingold" will be given, and with this, the prelude of the Nibelung tetralogy, the season will come to a close.
